The Daily Grind: Lost Generation

“…in the land of the blind the man with one eye is the king.”

Ever since hip hop lost Tupac and Big to martyrdom the game has yet to recapture its true identity. Sure Jay held it down musically and became an undeniably iconic figure and Nas is making his best efforts to come out of his own Illmatic shadow to lead hip hop in the right direction. But it may be too little too late. For too many years hip hop suffered from the blind leading the blind. There was no one out there teaching the babies what real hip hop was. So its no wonder that they’re so succeptible to trends and corny ass ringtone raps. They’re only taking what they were given. So I’ve been thinkin about throwing up a couple of classic albums. Some hip hop 101 action if you will. I don’t feel comfortable with bootlegging new material, but I do believe that putting some of these classic albums out there will wake the babies and show them why we’re so disappointed with the overall quality of hip hop coming out these days. So check for that in about a day or two. Maybe I’ll set it off next week. In the meantime, if you see a young’n out there knockin some bullsh*t. Grab that lil n*gglete and put him on to some real sh*t. Its on us to keep the tradition alive. You can start with this new Nas mixtape. Plenty “understandable smooth” sh*t that the the youngn’s can move with. Let’s do it!…water
