The Death of Internet Radio

12 July 2007 43 views 11 Comments

This is indeed a sad day in the free-form entertainment world. The music industry’s continually self-destructive tactics have reached another milestone as they have effectively killed internet radio. A drastic increase in royalty rates has forced most internet radio stations to close up shop. This new congressional ruling will have a wide spread effect on not only the commercial markets but also educational institutions in major cities like Baruch College who broadcast primarily over the net. This is just another desperate move by an industry trying unsuccessfully to hang on to its strangehold over free enterprise and creativity. When will these fools learn to stop alienating their own customers.
