Ski Beatz - Beats, Rhymes & Samples

One of the most underated producers in the game, Ski was a key component in supplying soundscapes for classics such as Hov’s Reasonable Doubt and Camp Lo’s Uptown Saturday Night. Talk about ambience, Ski is one of the few producers who can hit you with a NY street banger (John Blaze) and then turn around and give you a laid back head nodda (no Heather Hunter). To refresh your memory, Ski, along with DJ Raize, has put up a mixtape on his myspace showcasing the tracks he has produced over the years along with the original samples. A dope mixtape and concept, this is sure to keep ya hungry for more Ski beats next time ya read the production credits (c’mon Jay, I think its about time we call for a reunion).

Ski has been keeping busy in his hometown of North Carolina, and is getting ready to release the new Camp Lo album this summer while also working on collabs with Jean Grae, Serius Jones, and local NC acts. One song that caught my ears last year produced by Ski was by Bronx, NY emcee AX, called 100 to 1. This song was playing on my show every week!! Pay attention now, this kid is a problem.
